***ITS CONSTRUCTION CUP 2007***

ITS Construction Cup

The annual South Wales Construction Cup this year was sponsored by ITS Construction Personnel who organised a superb tournament filled with drama and excitement.  The final came down to Barratt Homes and Whitchurch Building Supplies in a nip and tuck game which saw Whitchurch Building Supplies emerge victorious 5 goals to 3.  An early goal from inside their own half saw Whitchurch gain the lead with their goalkeeper keeping them ahead for the first half of the match.  In the final minutes Barratt Homes threw caution to the wind in an attempt to win their first ever ITS Construction Cup.  Unfortunately it was to no avail but they left the tournament with their heads held high.

Congratulations to all those teams who attended this years event including Cowlin and Travis Perkins who narrowly lost out in the Semi finals.

***UPDATE - CLUB CAPTAIN ANNOUNCED***

Justin Burnell has announced the Blue & Blacks' new captain and vice-captain for the season

Former Cardiff Blues centre Tristan Davies has been appointed club captain for the 2007-08 season.

Davies has returned to the Arms Park this summer after a year with Pertemps Bees. Between September 2004 and May 2006 he played 39 games for the Cardiff Blues and also for the Blue and Blacks.  Director of rugby Justin Burnell said, “Leading Cardiff is a major responsibility and Tristan has all the experience we require for the role. He is a true professional in the best sense of the word and has an impressive work ethic.

“We also took into consideration the fact that he will have a very young back division around him and one of Tristan’s many qualities is that he is a key decision maker out on the pitch.  “We are doubly fortunate to also have Gavin Lucas in the squad and he will be Tristan’s vice-captain and pack leader.”

Cardiff complete their pre-season fixtures on Saturday when they travel to the West Country to play Weston-Super-Mare at their Drove Road ground (2.30pm).  Davies will lead a side that includes eight other new recruits to the squad this summer.
